INGREDIENTS (240 ml of cup used):

  • 250 grams of chicken(boneless)
  • 2tsps corn flour or all-purpose flour(maida)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of bread crumbs to taste
  • salt as needed
  • 3/4 tsp ginger-garlic paste 
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 3/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1tsp garam masala
  • oil for deep frying

HOW TO MAKE THE RECIPE:

preparation for popcorn chicken recipe:
  • Take a bowl and add paprika/red chili powder,ginger-garlic powder, pepper powder, masala powder, and salt.
  • Mix very well and taste the mixture. adjust the salt and spice as needed.
  • Cut chicken into tiny bite-sized pieces. make sure you cut them into uniform sizes as this helps to fry all of them uniformly.
  • Shift the cut chicken to the seasoning and mix well.
  • Now add the flour and coat the chicken with flour.
  • pour the buttermilk or egg and mixwell.chicken should be very moist at this stage.
  • next shift the bread crumbs and mix well.
  • kept aside for 10-15 minutes for the bread to stick well to the pieces. if you have used buttermilk then it is good to rest at least 1hour.you can also refrigerate up to 48 hours for further purpose.
How to make popcorn chicken:
  • First heat oil on a medium flame
  • when the oil is heated check by dropping a small piece of bread crumb.it has to rise without browning alot.350-375F is the perfect temperature.
  • drop the pieces one after the other.do not stir them for at least 1 minute otherwise, the breadcrumbs may disperse in oil.
  • deep fry evenly till color turns to golden.keep stirring after 1-2 minutes for even frying.
  • drain popcorn chicken on a kitchen tissue and serve hot with ketchup or sauce.
