Ingredients (240 ml of cup used):

  • 1/2 cup of Toor Dal.
  • 2 tsp of moong dal.
  • 3 vegetable drumsticks.
  • 1-1/2 cups of watering.
  • 3 medium-sized onions.
  • 1 tomato large(chopped).
  • 1-2 green chilies.
  • 1/2 tsp of ginger garlic paste.
  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric.
  • 1/2 tsp of red chili powder.
  • Tamarind small lemon sized ball.
  • 1-2 tsp of sambar powder.
  • 2-3 tsp of coconut fresh grated.
  • salt as needed.
  • Coriander leaves handful(chopped)
  • 2-3 cups of water.
Tempering:
  • 1 red chili.
  • 1/2 tsp of mustard.
  • 1/2 tsp of cumin.
  • 1 spring curry leaves.
  • 1/4 tsp of methi seeds(fenugreek)
  • 2 tsp of ghee.
  • 1 clove.
  • 2 pinches of hing.
How To Make The Recipe:

Preparation For Drumstick Sambar:
  • First, wash the dal very freshly and pour dal in pressure cooker with 2 cups of water for 3 whistles.
  • Pour 3 cups of water in a pot and add all the chopped vegetables and cook till drumsticks are partially cooked. 
  • If the sambar gravy is thick as per your preference then pour less water.
  • Soak tamarind in hot water and kept aside.
Making Drumstick Sambar:
  • Add turmeric, red chili powder, sambar powder, salt, and ginger garlic paste. Continue the cooking drumsticks are fully cooked.
  • Add Coconut, and tamarind juice.
  • Mash the dal to smooth and mix to sambar.
  • stir well and add coriander leaves and flame set to low.
Temper Drumstick Sambar:
  • First, Take a pan and add ghee and heat it.
  • when the ghee becomes hot add cumin, methi and mustard.when they mix then add red chili, garlic,hing, and curry leaves.
  • Pour this tempering over the sambar. Flame set to off.
  • Finally, Mouthwatering Drumstick sambar is ready to serve.
  • The perfect combination of drumstick sambar is with rice and dosa.
