PRAWNS DRUMSTICK CURRY RECIPE | MULAKKADA PRAWNS CURRY

I had never prepared Prawns drumstick curry before. that means I prepared only prawns, I never cooked prawns along with drumsticks. I usually prepare egg drumstick curry, fish drumstick curry, mutton drumstick curry, chicken drumstick curry.but for the first time I tried this prawns drumstick curry and it turned out really very tasty and awesome.

In this recipe, I have used medium size prawns but you can use small size or big size. Usually, prawns are sweet in nature. So you can add a little more amount of red chilli powder than usual. you need to take care of white sauteing the drumstick.they may split apart if you stir roughly, so stir in a friendly manner. you better use not fully mature fleshy drumsticks.

If you are using frozen prawns, make sure that you defrost them gently before cooking. otherwise, they may turn hard. you can use coconut milk if you really like, I didn't use coconut milk in this recipe.you may use coconut milk instead of water also. It tastes good with hot food. I Hope you try and enjoy the recipe.

INGREDIENTS for PRAWNS DRUMSTICK CURRY:

  • 300 grams of prawns
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 to 3 drumsticks
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • salt as needed
  • 1-2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  • 5-6 tbsp oil
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 2 sprigs mint leaves
  • 1 or 250ml cup water
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves

INSTRUCTIONS for PRAWNS DRUMSTICK CURRY:

  • Devein the medium size prawns and rinse thoroughly.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onions(chopped), drumsticks, green chillies, and salt.
  • Saute and mix well until the onions become soft or until the drumsticks turn into lite golden colour.
  • Put curry leaves, ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw flavour disappears.
  • Add tomatoes (chopped) and cook until they turn to soft and pulpy(mushy).
  • Add red chilli, turmeric, coriander powders respectively, stir and mix well.
  • After, add mint leaves, prawns and mix well.
  • Cover with lid and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  • Pour water, mix well, cover with the lid and cook for at least 10 minutes.
  • Add garam masala (Everest masala) to curry and wait for 5 minutes with a low flame.
  • Finally, add coriander leaves(chopped) for garnish and switch off the flame.
